GUALY

About Gualy

Towards a sustainable world

One core business in everything we do

Natural resources cannot be replaced: Air, Water, Earth. It’s our responsibility to protect them and assure that their existence will not be compromised.

In Gualy we believe that it is possible to create attractive design jewels using some of the most precious raw materials made available by nature, without endangering those resources. However, we feel a responsibility to use them wisely and contribute, together with you, to preserve our world for the future generations.

Our steps towards sustainability:

Recycling Programme

Precious metals are non-renewable resources and as they are mined each year to make new jewellery, it is our responsibility to take notice and action in order to prevent their depletion.

In nature there is no waste, everything is reused! Inspired by these natural principles, Gualy developed the Recycling Programme, a no profit initiative to reduce waste and create a greener future for our planet. When recycled responsibly, the metals can be put back into circulation, decreasing the need for new metal mining.

We believe that our customers share the same concerns. Together we can make a positive contribution, to increase reusage and build a better environment.

Sourcing

As a retailer, our raw material sources are carefully chosen. We work with suppliers who follow principles of responsible mining, comply with labour conditions and follow environmental protection guidelines.

We have a responsibility to assure our customers that the gold and silver products we sell are not produced at the expense of communities, workers, or the environment. Although it is complex to have control over all the supply chain, we strive to continuously optimize our sourcing processes in order to tighten up our control and select partners who share our values.

Reduction

Our business model was optimized in order to minimize used resources, so:

- We use a make-to-order process that minimizes useless obsolete pieces.

- Our designs often use coloured natural gemstones, generally more abundant in nature.

- Our strategy, purely based on-line, contributes to a significant reduction in resources needed: shops, exhibition materials, stocks, as well as offering time and fuel savings.

Packaging

Our packaging has a touch of sensuality with its “peach-like feel” to leave a strong tactile memory. The used paper is FSC certified (Product group from well-managed forests and other controlled sources).

Create awareness

We believe that our jewels can be a powerful way to create awareness around important themes, involving ecological, economical and social responsibility.

The collection “I’m full of AWARENESS” is focused on all women who stand for a conscious way of living and has an active role in educating future generations about relevant issues.

This collection represents some of the fundamental aspects of Gualy’s values:

- The puzzle form translates the individual perception of each distinctive role in shaping our world.

- The circle, not totally divided nor completely united, indicates the need to enhance a culture of respect and tolerance for multicultural differences and beliefs.

- The urge to be part of efforts to conserve and protect water, one of the planet’s most important resources, is highlighted by the water drop.

- Inspired by the Vitória Régia plant, from the deep Amazonian forest, and standing for the drive to protect biological diversity, Gualy presents an original stylized leaf.

Transforming the lives of children

Gualy, through a programme of “Child Sponsorship of World Vision”, started to transform the lives of two children in need by helping to remove the obstacles that poverty placed in their path. By sponsoring two children, Gualy employees have the opportunity to develop a long-term, meaningful relationship with them, while providing the resources they need to break free from poverty.  Through their participation in Child sponsorship, our employees’ daily work gains a greater, more meaningful dimension.

Mervis from Zambia and Rivious  from Uganda are  children living in communities severely affected by the HIV and AIDS crisis. In their countries, the disease has impacted on the entire social structure, creating a generation of orphans and vulnerable children.

We thank you for your preference for Gualy jewels and we believe that together we can contribute to improve the lives of a larger number of children.

Sponsorship can change children's lives.

Every day, nearly 26,000 children under the age of five die - most from hunger and preventable illness, causes that child sponsorship can help prevent.

We invite you too, to personally embrace the same programme.
