About Gualy

Manufacturing process

A combination of skill and technical process

Gualy’s jewels result from the combination of skilled and qualified craftsman and technical prowess. Traditional techniques, based on experience and handmade dedicated work, are complemented with state-of- the art techniques, such as laser cut and solder.

Metals and Alloys

Gualy’s jewels are produced with the following precious metals:

Sterling Silver Rhodium plated

Pure silver is a precious metal, also called fine silver, which is relatively soft, very malleable, and easily damaged, so it is commonly combined with other metals to add strength and durability. Sterling silver is the standard for beautiful high-quality silver jewellery which consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper.

Gualy uses a special silver alloy that prevents oxidation, in association with a top quality Rhodium bath.  The Rhodium metal alloy is commonly applied as an incredibly hard protective coating to sterling silver and white gold. This coating offers the advantages of making these white metals even whiter and preventing silver tarnish, which guarantees the lasting beauty and durability of your jewellery. Gualy do not produce white gold jewellery.

Sterling Silver Ruthenium plated

A special sterling silver alloy that prevents oxidation, in association with a Ruthenium bath, is used by Gualy to give a dark grey effect to silver. Ruthenium is unaffected by air, water and acids and it's used to harden platinum and palladium to create more wear-resistant jewellry, also preventing silver tarnish.

Yellow gold 750  (18k)

Gold is a noble metal used to create jewellery for centuries. It is valued for its beauty, strength and malleability. Gold will never tarnish, rust, or corrode. Pure gold is too soft to support every-day wear, so it is alloyed with a mixture of metals like silver, copper and zinc to give it strength and durability.

Gold jewellery pieces are officially required to be stamped with the corresponding gold karat (either in karats or mill proportion), to show how much actual gold is contained in the product. Gualy gold jewels are stamped with 750 (75% gold), corresponding to 18 karat gold. 18k gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of another metal(s), making it 75% gold. See more information about Karats, in the the Jewellery glossary area.

Rose gold 750 (18k)

While gold is naturally yellow, various alloys are commonly added to pure gold to harden it and in some cases create other colours, like white gold and rose gold. Copper is added to make gold-coloured alloys, but additional copper creates pink and rose tones -- the more copper, the deeper the effect.

Gemstones

Only high quality natural gems are used in Gualy jewellery. Suppliers from all over the world search for the finest gems in order to deliver the most stunning jewels to our customers.

Quality Control

Quality control holds a strategically important role ever since Gualy’s foundation. Every link of the supply chain is rigorously inspected and demanding quality criteria must be fulfilled for a jewel to be approved for delivery.

The route of each of Gualy’s jewels is strictly controlled, from the drawing board to the customer's hands, backed by a system that ensures that Gualy’s products are of the highest quality.
